This town is the capital of the province of Castellón de la Plana. There are three main parts of the city: the historic centre, the new modern neighborhoods and closer to the sea, the Grao of Castellon.
We will depart from the old train station, that nowadays is a Reading Center, and we will walk by the Ribalta Park that is right next to it, one of the most emblematic places of the city. It was declared as an artistic and historic site in 1981. From there we will go to the Rey Don Jaime Avenue, where we will pay close attention to the neo moorish post office building. We will see the impressive Rey Don Jaime I statue, work from the sculptor named Viciano. Then we will go to the City Hall square, where we will talk about the important buildings surrounding it: the City Hall, the Santa Maria Cathedral, the Fadrell, which is a bell tower apart from the Cathedral and the amazing building of the Central Market. Afterwards you will have some free time to explore the shopping and gastronomic area around this square. Later on, we will go to the port of Castellón, called the Grao of Castellón.
This neighborhood closed to the sea, named El Grao, it’s the sea port of the city of Castellón. We will visit the Mar square, the fishing and comercial port and we will still have time to explore the open air market
In the end of our tour we will return to our departure point.
